Tasha Tudor Day 2023

Tasha followers celebrate Tasha Tudor Day each year on August 28. This year we celebrated her 108th heavenly birthday. All manner of events were held, showing the many different ways Tasha inspires people. The Tasha Tudor Museum Japan held an event which included a presentation, as did the Central Pennsylvania Chapter. The Pacific Northwest Chapter created an elaborate doll’s wedding with so many wonderful touches, you will find a post dedicated to the event soon.

For some people, Tasha Tudor Day is a day to revisit their beloved Tudor books, rereading them one by one. Many people raise a cup of tea in a quiet moment or stand among the trees and remember what it feels like to be connected to nature. Some write letters. But all of these different celebrations are a way to recenter and claim the life we were each made for, inspired by Tasha who unequivocally did just that.

Linda Colantino celebrated in Oregon with a tea served in pink lusterware china.
In Central Pennsylvania, friends old and new enjoyed a delicious luncheon in a beautiful setting with an interesting program about some of the women important to Tasha’s life and endeavors by Laura Ellen Wade. A silent auction garnered far more than expected to the benefit of the Society.

The new Southern Vermont Chapter held their first event; a garden party with a rousing game of ‘pooh sticks’, food and fellowship.

Hayao Izuhara and Masako Meshino shared a presentation about Tasha at the Tasha Tudor Museum Japan in Yamanashi.
Member Linnie Nolan’s dolls held a tea party in New York in Tasha’s honor. Dolls included Tom and Sylvie Ann dolls made by R.J. Wright, two lady dolls made by Marjorie Tudor, and two antique children.
The new Twin Cities Chapter held its first event, a virtual birthday celebration with cupcakes. A candle was lit in honor of the life of Tasha Tudor, while a tribute was read about her life. Attendees shared their favorite things about Tasha Tudor and made plans for future events. It was so much fun!
New Jersey Chapter members gathered and enjoyed food, fellowship and painting.

Member Kathleen Meeks hosted a tea party to celebrate Tasha’s birthday in Vermont. The tea included Tasha Tudor tea with ginger cookies, chocolate brownies with lavender, and cheese and crackers.

The Pacific Northwest Chapter assisted in a momentous occasion in the lives of two dolls, namely, their wedding. History was brought to life with this event and we look forward to sharing more about it soon.

The Southern New Hampshire Chapter hosted an English high tea in a lakeside cabana on Granite Lake in Nelson NH. Guests enjoyed both savory and sweet delights, a special Tasha birthday activity while toasting Tasha Tudor’s life and legacy.
